Joe Holt, Creative Director and Co-founder

Joe Holt is the Creative Director and a founding member of Man on the Run Productions. Since the company’s inception, he has worn many hats, including one of a writer, director, actor, composer and editor. In fact, his creativeness and multi-disciplinary approach has provided the foundation by which all Man on the Run productions have aspired.

Like many of the Man on the Run partners, Joe’s love for movie production started at an early age. During his teen years, he could be found filming car chases, epic fights and stories inspired by top directors of the day with his parents’ old camcorder. This passion intensified in adulthood, and Joe discovered that he could envision entire scenes together into meaningful stories. The perfect story maker in the works, he enrolled at the Art Institute of Phoenix and graduated with a degree in graphic design. A few years later he met Patrick Barrett, whose persistence and ingenuity combined perfectly with Joe’s passion for movies, which eventually pushed both of them to found Man on the Run.

Recently, Man on the Run productions has expanded into full length films, and in early 2007, Joe found himself auditioning for On the Lot. Although he was not selected, the exposure has brought about greater confidence in the work he and the whole Man on the Run team have created over the last few years. In 2007, Joe will be finishing the ‘Road Less Traveled’ series, as well as starting the company’s next major project, ‘Paranormals’.

Patrick Barrett, Technical Director and Co-founder

Patrick Barrett is the Technical Director and a co-founder for Man on the Run Productions. His expertise marries many business and technical aspects of production, ranging from production management to special effects. Together with the other Man on the Run partners, Patrick balances creativity with ingenuity for which all of Man on the Run’s films and shorts have become known for.

Patrick has always had a love for movies. As a child growing up in Phoenix, Arizona he could be found in a theater almost every weekend. When he blew through his allowance, he could be found scouring through his house just to find enough change for a movie ticket. Over the years, Patrick discovered his drive to entertain people through a story. His developing leadership skills eventually leaned toward the more technical aspects of production, and throughout high school, Patrick controlled stage lighting and accepted directorial roles for children’s theater. During his early twenties, Patrick became friends with Joe Holt, and they quickly realized that Patrick’s analytical talents merged well with Joe’s creative eye. Together, their passion for story-telling inspired the founding of Man on the Run. They have never stopped since.

Today, Patrick has extended his position to the East coast. He continues to help manage productions remotely and flies back to Phoenix regularly to be on set. One of Patrick’s goals within the next five years is to submit Man on the Run’s first full-length feature film into the film circuit. His hope is that it will entertain and thrive with audiences.

Jamel Singleton, Technical Producer and Partner

Jamel Singleton brings eight years of creative design, advertising and multimedia experience to Man on the Run productions. As the Technical Producer for Man on the Run, Jamel not only oversees various technical aspects of Man on the Run video and film productions, he is also our main Director of Photography. On top of all of this, he is responsible for the creative development of Man on the Run’s brand as well as the web master for www.manontherun.com

Jamel, much like the other members of Man on the Run, always had a great love of television and film. Like most children of the 80s, television played a large role in his life. When he wasn’t watching his favorite television shows, he was trying to take the TV apart to see how it worked. Eventually, Jamel moved from California to Arizona to attend the Art Institute of Phoenix. College soon became a second home for him, and he spent every waking hour soaking up all the knowledge his professors had to offer. This environment is also where he met Joe Holt, a co-founding member of Man on the Run. Fast friends, the two often imagined a future where they would write and direct films together. In 2006, Joe invited Jamel to become a part of Man on the Run as a partner, in which he accepted without hesitation.

Today, Jamel has extended his work to a joint venture with Joe for a future Man on the Run production. He hopes that this film will be successful in the future.

Jon Jensen, Associate

Jon Jensen is the marketing producer for Man on the Run. He essentially acts as the front man for the company and handles all public relations and coordination with film festivals.

Jon has had a long term friendship with Joe and Patrick, the co-founders of Man on the Run. Cast as Curtis in Road Less Traveled, Jon’s interests have grown beyond this reoccurring role, to aide in promotion of the films. Today, Jon takes an active role to promote sales as well as funding ventures for future Man on the Run productions.

In addition to marketing, Jon is also interested in sound and lighting direction, which he will be overseeing on future productions.

Chris Carlson, Associate

Chris Carlson is a creative producer for Man on the Run Productions. However, his involvement has ranged widely from acting, camera direction, lighting and even taking production stills on recent Man on the Run productions.

Chris’ first job ever was at a local theater as a projectionist, where his curiosity about films and film production flourished. Since then, he dreamt of the day he could create a film of his own. This passion he carried for film is what attracted Chris to Man on the Run when it was still in its infancy. Chris is married to fellow Man on the Run cohort, Melissa Carlson, and has been friends with Joe and Patrick for almost a decade now. When he was cast in the original Road Less Traveled, his interests grew far beyond his role as Thomas, into many aspects of behind the scenes production. He has been a part of ever Man on the Run production since then.

Specifically, Chris’ interests have expanded into directing and editing, and he hopes to finish his first screenplay in 2008.
